    Course Objectives:

     

    By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand the technology, construction
    • operating principles of common rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, and their auxiliaries).
    • Apply correct operating procedures
    • recognize normal versus abnormal performance based on running parameters and characteristic curves.
    • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, including assembly, dismounting, inspection, clearance checking, and alignment.
    • Identify the root causes of common failures (wear, unbalance, leakage, vibration)
    • apply effective troubleshooting techniques.
    • Use vibration surveys and failure analysis methods to forecast breakdowns
    • plan predictive maintenance interventions.
    • Apply relevant occupational safety practices when operating, inspecting, or maintaining rotating equipment.

    • Main components: casing, rotor, bearings, coupling
    • Flushing systems
    • Heating and cooling systems
    • Lubrication systems
    • Assembly and dismounting procedures
    • Inspection, clearance measurement, adjustment, and alignment
    • running parameters — head, flow, RPM, and efficiency
    • Stresses in machines and their influence on lifetime and damage
    • Failure prevention: monitoring and repair quality
    •  internal leakages, unbalance, wear, ruptures, and vibration
    • Purpose and role of lubrication; types of oils and greases; practical application
    • Anti-friction bearings: types, service life, mounting, applications, and related problems
    • Plain, pad, and thrust bearings: operation, maintenance, and typical incidents
    • Mechanical seals: types, operation, related problems, installation, and geometrical checks
    • Other seals for positive-displacement pumps and reciprocating compressors
    • Balancing, eccentricity, and tolerances
    • Effect of shaft assembly on balancing
    • Geometrical shaft controls
    • Study of ruptures, wear, and other failure modes
    • Typical machine damage: causes of failure and the influence of metallurgy and surface treatment
    • Fatigue, wear, and tear mechanisms
    • Rupture face (fractography) analysis
    • Use of vibration surveys in predictive maintenance and breakdown forecasting
    • Characteristic curves and regulation
    • Start-up procedures and routine surveys
    • Effect of internal wear on performance
